Iedereen die Windows 8 gebruikt zal op een zeker moment een uitnodiging krijgen van Microsoft om de upgrade naar 8.1 te downloaden. En dat nog wel geheel gratis en voor niks, nogal a-typisch voor Microsoft... :)

Als je de upgrade uitvoert, dan werkt de Arduino 2560 driver niet meer. Je kunt hem alleen opnieuw installeren door de truc voor de unsigned drivers opnieuw uit te voeren (moest in Windows 8 ook al, geloof ik).
